PliXir’s unique 3 step filter for maximum noise reduction:
- Step 1: The Balanced AC Power Conditioner prevents incoming mains noise and ground loop problems.
- Step 2: The first voltage regulator has a Class A circuit with no feedback. This removes the greatest contamination and relieves the second voltage regulator.
- Step 3: The second voltage regulator has extremely low self-noise.
Balanced AC Power Conditioner:
Like all Plixir Power products, the Elite BDC is based on the conditioning of the incoming 230 Volt, by means of a high-quality balanced toroid core transformer. This ensures maximum disconnection from the mains, suppression of AC noise and prevention of ground loops. The Elite BDC has only 2 instead of 4 diodes. This prevents half of the diode noise. In order to be able to supply the same power, the capacity of the transformer has been doubled. This makes the Plixir BDC unique in its class. Most power supplies have only 1 voltage regulator. This circuit must then suppress all noise at once, including the noise from the mains and the diodes. In addition, the circuit must be able to withstand a reduced voltage when there is a high current demand, and regulating the heat is very important to avoid thermal noise from the circuit itself. All this has a major influence on the quality of a DC power supply: Slew rate, output impedance, inherent noise and ripple voltage. In many power supplies, the above problems are solved with filter circuits of large capacitors and coils before and after the voltage regulator. Plixir Power’s approach is different. Due to the presence of multiple discrete voltage regulators and the balanced AC supply, extreme filters and large capacity are not necessary. The two voltage regulators in tandem, work as a team. The discrete high-performance Class A circuit does the rough and tumble, allowing the second circuit to perform optimally under all conditions. Due to the balanced AC conditioning and the first voltage regulator, the final voltage regulation circuit comes in a staggered bed. The incoming voltage already has very low noise and ripple voltage. The final voltage regulator in the PliXir BDC is therefore able to supply an extremely clean DC voltage to your equipment with a very low noise level. The PliXir BDC units are exclusively built from high-quality components. Industrial 105 °C, low impedance capacitors and high power Schottky diodes, OCC wiring and premium quality switches and connectors guarantee a long life. The heavy-duty aluminum housing ensures optimum dissipation of the heat generated in the circuits. The housing will therefore feel warm when the power supply is in operation.
