Streamer and DAC
Provide two central components of your digital music system with a high-quality external power supply, provided both devices require the same DC voltage and are suitable for sharing a power supply.
An exceptional audio system deserves a power supply designed with equal care. The PLiXiR Statement BDC is the flagship of the PLiXiR range of balanced linear DC power supplies. Two DC outputs, a combined maximum continuous current capacity of 6 A, and a highly refined power supply architecture make it the choice for those who want to provide the power foundation for their source components at PLiXiR's highest level.
The Statement BDC goes beyond replacing a standard adapter. From the specially developed Noratel Tru-Balanced transformer and three-stage noise regulation to the star+plane grounding design and Bfly Master PRO feet: electrical and mechanical refinement come together in one compact, solid power supply.
Choose from a fixed output voltage of 5, 6, 9, 12, 15, or 19 V DC. The two outputs make it possible to connect two suitable devices with the same supply voltage. Two PLiXiR Elementa DC cables, each one metre long, are included as standard.
The position of the Statement BDC is not determined solely by its current capacity or the number of connections. The difference lies in the complete design of the power supply: the transformer, noise regulation, internal grounding, capacitor capacity, component selection, and mechanical decoupling have all been developed as a single, cohesive design.
The Statement builds on the original Elite BDC. According to PLiXiR, major circuit refinements, over 40% more capacitor capacity, and an improved internal layout result in a further reduction in the noise floor and output impedance. Undesirable circulating ground currents are also explicitly addressed.
You choose your DAC, streamer, and digital interfaces based on their capabilities and performance. With the Statement BDC, you also give their external power supply a serious place within the system design.
The starting point is a stable DC power supply with as little unwanted electrical interference as possible. Not to give the music an artificial character, but to allow the connected equipment to function under carefully controlled power supply conditions.
PLiXiR describes the intended sonic character as neutral, natural, detailed, focused, fast, and dynamic. How much added value it brings to your system depends partly on the original power supply and the sensitivity of the connected device to power supply interference.
The transformer is one of the most distinctive components of the Statement BDC. Noratel manufactures it according to PLiXiR's proprietary Tru-Balanced design, especially for this application.
The manufacturer cites a generously oversized transformer core, high-purity OFC copper wire, and magnetic shielding with vibration-absorbing properties. This means the design focuses not only on electrical energy transfer, but also on controlling magnetic and mechanical influences.
This transformer is therefore not a separate prestige component, but a fundamental part of the balanced power supply architecture on which the Statement BDC is built.
The Statement BDC combines a three-stage noise regulation architecture with a proprietary star+plane grounding design. According to PLiXiR, the circuits and internal layout have been extensively refined to further reduce both high-frequency and low-frequency noise.
Compared to the original Elite BDC design, PLiXiR states that the capacitor capacity has increased by more than 40%. In combination with the other circuit adjustments, the manufacturer says this is aimed at lower output impedance and better delivery of short-term current.
The internal return and ground currents are also part of the design. According to PLiXiR, the star+plane concept and the modified layout were developed to reduce unwanted circulating ground currents. An additional ground terminal also provides an extra connection option within a carefully planned system configuration.
PLiXiR specifies less than 1 mV RMS residual noise at the DC output.
The Statement BDC stands on Bfly Master PRO feet that are manufactured in Germany and specially tailored to PLiXiR's specifications.
The feet use multi-layer damping with different materials, aimed at different vibration frequencies. According to PLiXiR, they are mounted separately and without tension, so that the chosen decoupling construction can do its job.
The enclosure follows a similar approach: an extruded aluminium chassis with a wall thickness of 5 mm and thick metal top and bottom plates forms a rigid construction. Weighing 5.5 kg, the Statement BDC is a substantial device despite its compact dimensions.
The Dual Output version makes it possible to power two suitable components from a single Statement BDC. This can be a tidy solution for a digital source combination or two suitable components of a streaming setup.
You use one mains connection and a separate DC cable for each device. The two connected devices must be compatible with the chosen fixed output voltage and together remain within the available current capacity.
The maximum continuous current capacity is 6 A for both outputs together: output 1 + output 2 = maximum 6 A.
The Statement BDC is intended for equipment with a suitable external DC power input. The combinations below are examples of applications; exact compatibility must always be checked for each device.
Provide two central components of your digital music system with a high-quality external power supply, provided both devices require the same DC voltage and are suitable for sharing a power supply.
A tidy power supply solution for two suitable network components. Check the voltage and current requirements of both devices separately.
Consider a suitable DAC with an externally powered USB interface or reclocker. The power requirements and the mutual signal and ground connections determine whether the combination is suitable.
You do not need to use both outputs. A single suitable device can also be connected. If the current requirement is higher, confirm that the allowed load of the individual connection and DC cable is sufficient.
You choose the Statement BDC with the fixed output voltage that suits your equipment. It is not a power supply with two freely adjustable output voltages. The power ratings below are calculated as voltage multiplied by the maximum combined continuous current of 6 A.
| Fixed output voltage | Combined continuous current | Calculated DC capacity |
|---|---|---|
| 5 V DC | Maximum 6 A | 30 W |
| 6 V DC | Maximum 6 A | 36 W |
| 9 V DC | Maximum 6 A | 54 W |
| 12 V DC | Maximum 6 A | 72 W |
| 15 V DC | Maximum 6 A | 90 W |
| 19 V DC | Maximum 6 A | 114 W |
The Statement BDC is supplied with two PLiXiR Elementa DC cables, each one metre long. For the device end, the manufacturer offers a choice of 2.1 mm and 2.5 mm DC plugs, including a combination of both. Other plug types are available on request.
The plug choice must be tailored to each device. The designation 2.1 or 2.5 mm alone is not sufficient to establish full compatibility: also check the other dimensions and polarity.
PLiXiR offers the Statement DC cable as an optional upgrade over the standard Elementa cable. You can upgrade one device connection or replace both cables.
Agree on the exact cable version, connectors, and length in advance. An optional cable is only included when it is explicitly mentioned with the offered version or bundle.
PLiXiR assembles its products by hand in Singapore. According to the manufacturer, control over PCB assembly and final assembly makes it possible to carefully monitor the execution and tuning.
The Statement BDC uses selected components, including capacitors with very low impedance, high-current connectors, and high-purity copper cabling. The final sonic tuning is carried out by founder James Soh.
This makes the Statement not only a more substantial power supply, but a fully developed flagship in which electrical architecture, material selection, and mechanical construction come together.
